Northern California Travel The Best Options eBook Lee Foster Reviews
Mr. Foster's new book provides great outdoor outing ideas for me and my family. And when visitors ask for recommendations on where to visit in Northern CA, I'll pull options from his book. It includes the iconic Norcal destinations I've often visited such as Sequoia National Park, however, it provides more details about what to see and the historical significance of these places.
This is a collection of suggested outings, each with some introduction and information about stops and sights along the way. Of several with which we're familiar, we thought the suggested locations were well described and meal opportunities worthwhile.
This guide is virtually useless to me. Very disorganized and difficult to locate specific content. Very limited listing of restaurants/accommodations, w some sections not listing any at all (at least that I could find) and no explanations of why those listed are recommended. I bought this guide specifically to plan a trip to visit some of the many wineries throughout the area covered. Sadly, there is almost no mention of wineries/vineyards and once again, almost no info for those few that do show up. There are no photos, and worst of all, not even any maps. For an out-of-state visitor, I don't see how this guide provides much, if any, help.
This travel book is packed with information that would be of interest and help for anyone visiting Northern California, as well as anyone who already lives there. The author not only suggests where to go, but provides a great deal of the history as well. He also suggests great places and times to take photographs, as he is also a travel photographer. He suggests places to go for day trips and overnight trips. Whether you are in San Francisco itself, wine country, Monterey, Santa Cruz, this book has it -- including the best beaches.
I found the book very well written and helpful for planning our upcoming trip to the area. I added a few "must see" places and attractions to the list based upon the information from the book.
